We have gathered information from both IGN and Gamespot who was able to view the Roundtable Discussion. Below we will have the quotes from the sites.

IGN

  • Talking about the sword fight boss battle in Skyward. How the Motion Plus ups the ante. I’m actually one of a very few who said they had played and beat it! ^_^
  • Looking at a new area, a volcanic one, in Skyward. One that wasn’t sown on the show floor.
  • A new race of species– Mogmas? Magmas? They look like funnydog things poppin gout of the ground.
  • We see the girl from the original concept art now. The spirit in Link’s sword, as we all guessed. Named Fi (sp?). She acts as your guide as you’re looking for different pieces of a key. You can hear the sword reacting to stuff in the ground, like a metal detector of sorts.
  • Link slides down a sandy hill. He grabs a bomb flower and throws it down the hill.
  • This tech demo is going muuuuch better than the last one. Guess it’s a good thing we really turned off our Wi-Fi.
  • Now we’re being showed the Siren World. It’s very mystical looking, is actually in a different dimension. He must collect certain tear-shaped items to leave. The portal to this world is in the forest from the very first demo of this game at last year’s E3.
  • Guardians protect these items. One hit from them can kill him because he’s unarmed in this world. Finding the item releases the guardian.
  • This is the same environment you traverse earlier in the game, just in a different dimension. Trippy, much? So if you memorize the layout it will pay off later down the line.
  • Usually in a Zelda game you solve puzzles in one area and move on to the next. This time around you’ll be returning to areas to discover new puzzles and new elements to explore. Understanding the environments is integral as you will be interacting with them multiple times and in different ways. He says the map system has been improved as a result.

From IGN’s post we can see that there is a new area which is a volcanic area, a new race called Monmas, Link must collect certain tear shaped items which are protected by Guardians to travel between worlds and that to solve puzzles in the game you must return to certain areas to beat certain areas and solve puzzles.

This is what we gathered from IGN and below will be the one from GameSpot.

  • Posted 7:02 PDT Since players will interact with the environments multiple times, he stresses that knowledge of them will pay off.
  • Posted 7:00 PDT Aonuma explains that he wanted the environments between dungeons to be as interesting and interactive as the dungeons themselves.
  • Posted 6:59 PDT The terrain mirrors that of the real-world level the dimension overlays.
  • Posted 6:58 PDT Luckily they can be immobilized with some tear-shaped items–for a limited time. A flower on the side of the screen acts as a timer, with its petals disappearing as time runs out.
  • Posted 6:57 PDT This puts him at a disadvantage when facing some hulking guardians.
  • Posted 6:57 PDT This world is also complicated by the fact that Link had to use his sword to access the dimension, meaning he is unarmed.
  • Posted 6:56 PDT To leave this alternate dimension, Link has to collect a series of items.
  • Posted 6:55 PDT In a new forest setting, Link activates a siren power which turns the woods into some kind of alternate reality.
  • Posted 6:55 PDT Skipping ahead, Skyward Sword’s overall plot is about the forging of a master sword.
  • Posted 6:55 PDT Link is also rocking a pair of metal gauntlets that help him dig.
  • Posted 6:53 PDT More bomb flower-tossing takes down another wall.
  • Posted 6:52 PDT Another wall, another piece. Perky music plays in the background.
  • Posted 6:52 PDT The next key piece is on the other side of a wall. Unfortunately, so are several sword-wielding opponents, whom Link quickly dispatches.
  • Posted 6:51 PDT One piece of the key is atop a tower which Link must fell by picking a nearby bomb flower and rolling it down a hill.
  • Posted 6:51 PDT Phi, the spirit that lives in Link’s sword, helpfully directs the player to find the pieces of the key to the temple. Link uses his sword like some kind of medieval metal detector, waving it around as it beeps faster and faster the closer he gets to a piece of the key.
  • Posted 6:49 PDT Two members of the race in the area, called the Monmas, are talking about a key they have for a nearby temple.
  • Posted 6:48 PDT They begin a Japanese demo of the game, which is the second area players encounter in the game.
  • Posted 6:48 PDT Exploration will be a big part of Skyward Sword, with players using their swords to find elements in the environment.
  • Posted 6:47 PDT Other than flying through the air and swordplay, there are a lot of other gameplay elements from the game he wants to show off today.
  • Posted 6:46 PDT He says the fact the boss has a sword really shows off the game’s sword-fighting mechanic.
  • Posted 6:46 PDT Now it’s Skyward Sword time, with Aonuma referring to a boss fight demo that’s on the show floor. A few people in the audience have already beaten it.

It has similiar info to the IGN post but clearly this gives us more info. Be:
Terrain mirrors of the real world level the dimension overlays, the guardians can be immobilized with the tear shaped items for a limited amount of time, to leave the alternate dimension Link must collect a series of items, Link gets this “siren power” which turns the woods into some kind of alternate reality, Link is equipped with metal gauntlets that assist him to dig, the spirit that dwells within Link’s sword is named Phi who will be your guide in searching for pieces of keys, when Link gets close to a key piece his sword goes off like a metal detector, there will other stuff in the game besides flying and swordplay, Link’s sword will also be able to find certain elements in the environment and that Skyward Sword’s main plot is the forging of a master sword.
