In a recent post over at GameSpot they stated that Link will obtain the Boomerang in Skyward Sword, an item that has been passed down from game to game throughout the series. GameSpot believes that the item will make a comeback in Skyward Sword but other sites such as G4 and 1UP are saying that Link will get the Slingshot. All sites mention that Link must first earn the trust of the Kikwi’s cheif, Bucha in order to get the items, but which item is it? Well we believe that GameSpot has made an error on their part and we believe that you will get the Slingshot from the Kikwi elder. Here’s what GameSpot stated about this:
On the hunt for Zelda, Link bumps into creatures called kikwis that initially think of him as a threat. Upon realizing that Link isn’t hostile, they give him clues as to the whereabouts of Zelda. Here, you’ll search around the area for other kikwis that have been hiding, and upon finding all three, the elder kikwi, Bucha, gives Link a boomerang and information as to where it saw Zelda go.
Now that you have read what GameSpot posted here is what G4 had to say on this:
It took some coercing, but I earned his trust and met the Kikwi elder, Bucha. He tasked me with finding his fellow Kikwis, all of which were being bothered by forest monsters. Link and I are a killer team. We aided all of the Kikwis in need in no time. (Actual time: 30 minutes) Bucha was so pleased he rewarded Link with a slingshot, Dun nah nah nah!
And here is what 1UP had to say about this:
The means to working your way through way through the woods are found in the woods themselves; the area is a self-contained puzzle. In that sense, it really does play out like a dungeon. You even acquire a new tool, the slingshot, in the course of locating the Deep Woods.
We are unsure which item or whether you will get both items after you have completed the quest but for now we can only class this under rumor. We are more believing what 1UP and G4 posted but again we are unsure. Keep checking back for the true item that will be chosen or if its another item.
