  • Storyline

After Link’s adventure in A Link to the Past, he sets off traveling the seas in search of a new adventure. One night Link is caught in a storm and is shipwrecked on an island called Koholint Island. Link is found unconscious on the beach by a young girl named Marin. Link awakens and is confused on whereabouts. Marin took Link to their house while he was unconscious. Marin father Tarin gives Link his shield back when he awakens and returns to the beach to retrieve his sword. He is then encountered by a mysterious Owl which tells Link that the only way he may leave this island is if he awaken the Wind Fish, the guardian of Koholint Island, from his slumber within an egg high on the mountaintops. With the nightmare creatures seeking to rule the island they will do whatever it takes to stop Link from awaking the Wind Fish. With the aid of the Owl, Link finds his way to retrieve the eight instruments of the Sirens.

Link falls in love with Marin, the same girl who rescued him on the beach. She teaches him Ballad of the Wind Fish, the song that will awaken the Wind Fish. As Link learns more about the island he discovers that it is all a dream created by the Wind Fish. With that knowledge Link now has to make a choice in either awaken the Wind Fish and stop the Nightmares or end his journey and stay with Marin. Link continues with his journey and as he approaches the Wind Fish’s Egg he plays the Ballad of the Wind Fish. This causes a doorway to open and allows Link to enter inside of the egg.

After going through the egg he confronts the leader of the Nightmares, Dethl who can transform into many enemies that Link has faced before. After Dethl’s defeat the Owl reveals his true self to Link as a part of the Wind Fish’s spirit. Link then plays the Ballad of the Wind Fish which awakens the Wind Fish and causes Koholint Island to disappear. Link is then awaken floating on the ocean puzzled on whether or not all this was real and as he looks up at the sky he sees a figure of the Wind Fish and smiles.
