    Storyline

Some years after The Legend of Zelda, just before Link’s sixteenth birthday, he notices a strange mark on the back of his left hand that is similar to the crest of Hyrule. He goes to see Impa who then takes Link to the tower of North Castle where Princess Zelda lies in a deep sleep. Link learns that the princess has been placed in that state because the Prince of Hyrule wanted to obtain the Triforce but Zelda refused. The Prince used the power of the wizard to cast a spell upon his sister to put her in a deep sleep and caused the wizard’s death.

Impa tells Link that the mark on Link’s hand means that he is destine to awake Zelda. She gives Link chest containing six crystals and ancient writings stating that each crystal needs to be placed in a different palace around Hyrule thus opening the way to the Great Palace which contains the Triforce of Courage, which is what is needed to awaken Zelda. As Link is set off on his adventure Ganon’s minions are after Link’s blood for a single drop on Ganon’s ashes can revive Ganon.

Link eventually restores all six crystals to the palaces and with all the crystals in place the Great Palace is opened. Once inside Link is then put to the last test of his courage, defeating his own shadow. Upon defeating his shadow Link obtains the Triforce and awakens Princess Zelda
